Many people buy a favorite hat that is very comfortable to wear, but it deforms after washing, and it becomes loose and ugly. In fact, as long as the method is right, the hat can be washed clean and does not deform. Today I will teach you how to wash the hat correctly.
1. Look at the material of the hat first
Before washing, look at the material and washing instructions written on the hat label. Common hat materials are:
Cotton: the most common, more washable.
Denim: also relatively strong.
Wool: wash gently, do not rub.
Wool, woolen: dry cleaning or hand washing is recommended.
The brim of the hat has a hard shell (plastic or cardboard): never machine wash or soak for too long.
2. Hand washing is the safest
If you want to keep the hat from deforming, the best way is to wash it by hand. The steps are as follows:
Prepare water first
Use cold or warm water, not hot water, hot water will easily shrink the hat.
Pour detergent
Pour a little neutral laundry detergent, do not use bleach.
Soak
Put the hat in water, press gently, and let it soak for 5-10 minutes.
Gently scrub
Use a soft brush or fingers to gently scrub dirty areas, such as sweatbands and brims.
Rinse clean
Rinse repeatedly with clean water to ensure that all detergent is rinsed off.
Press dry
Do not wring it hard, put the hat in a dry towel and press gently to absorb the water.
3. Shape and dry
Find a clean round object, such as a bowl, balloon, or roll a ball with a dry towel and stuff it inside the hat.
Arrange the hat in shape and prop it up.
Put it in a cool and ventilated place to dry naturally, do not expose it to the sun, and do not blow it hard with a hair dryer.
4. Be careful when washing in a machine
Put the hat in a special laundry bag.
Use the gentle setting and the water temperature should be low.
After washing, stuff something to shape and dry it.
Machine washing is risky and can easily make the hat lose its shape. Unless the instructions say it can be machine washed, it is not recommended to machine wash it.
If you follow this method, you don't have to worry about the hat being deformed after washing, it will still look the same when you wear it.
